I drew this scene based off of The Search, assuming Azula and Zuko found their mother in the end. I always wondered about how Katara would feel about Zuko finding his mom, when she lost hers, and how she initially and subconciously used Zuko as a scapegoat for her mother’s death. Eventually, though, Zuko helped Katara find her mother’s killer and give her a sense of justice. So, I thought Katara would want Zuko to be able to find his mother because even though she can’t get hers back from the Fire Nation, she’d want her friend to have his. I liked the parallel and I doubt we’ll see any mention of it in the actual comic, so I wanted to do something for it. I also originally had Aang with his hand on Katara’s shoulder, but changed it to Sokka, because people, including Katara, forget he lost his mother too.
I’m gonna be really disappointed if Zuko and Katara don’t at least have one heart-to-heart conversation about how “Katara knows how Zuko feels, but at least he has hope and how she hopes that even though she can’t have her mother back, she wants him to get his”
Zuko helped Katara get justice with her mom, SO IT’S ONLY RIGHT THEY HAVE THIS KIND OF CONVERSATION, PLEASE.
if i don’t see katara and zuko as old people together in book two, reminiscing I will go to nickelodeon and sue them for making us all plunge into insanity this hiatus and making the two of the last of them alive and we don’t even see them interact
like bryke, I swear to God.
I need my friendship feels, damn it.
My old people friendship feels.
I need them.
